Hood Interior With Maintenance Lid Removed 

You can see the engine compartment door panel filters, the interior lighting for checking equipment at night, and the single handle hood look latching system. The small triangles at the top are the roof trusses in the shop which are directly above the locomotive.  A single latch handle in the cab operates the levers and bars which in turn latch all of the hood doors on both sides of the engine compartment.  This hood latch system is used on both the new and reconditioned hoods.  The interior lighting and the door panel filters are standard options.
 

Paint System

The standard paint system currently in use for exterior and interior painting is the du Pont IMRON 333 paint system.  This paint system is one of the very best on the market for corrosive attack.  It resists fading very well and holds up for many years.  Normally the interior is painted gray as shown.  The exterior below deck is painted black, and the exterior above deck is painted to customer colors and complemented with customer logos, special striping, etc.  Some examples of paint schemes are shown below.
