| This coal tender is really a diesel locomotive. It was built to operate behind an old steam locomotive at an amusement park. The old locomotive could no longer generate enough power to pull the train but looked good to the public. The coal tender allowed the park to keep the appearance of the old steam train as it pulled the railcars and pushed the steam locomotive along the train's route. The coal tender was designed to be extremely quiet and the exhaust was vented with the radiator air in order to prevent the public from noticing that it had a running diesel engine inside of it. |
